Introducing InCharge’s new President and CEO: Loretta Roney – a Force for Good
After a nationwide search, there’s a new CEO in town, and her name is Loretta Roney. She brings a rich background in nonprofit financial services, community outreach and inspirational speaking to the team at InCharge.
“Loretta inspires everyone around her and has a passion for helping people lead their best lives,” Patricia Wexler, Chairwoman of InCharge’s Board of Directors, said. “Customers of InCharge – and we predict customers throughout the industry – will feel the impact of Loretta’s leadership as they seek a stronger financial future for themselves and their families. She is a force for good.”
Roney’s most recent post was a 9-year tenure as President/CEO of Volt Credit Union in Springfield, Mo., and eight years before that as President/CEO of Highway Alliance Credit Union in Jefferson City, Mo.
Volt tripled its income in the first two years of her leadership. She oversaw rebranding of the name and logo at both credit unions and the introduction of video banking.
Roney brings her passion for volunteering to InCharge. “At my previous companies, we created programs where Employees were paid for some of the hours they spent as volunteers at local charities. If your passion is pets, we want you to volunteer some time at the local Humane Society and get paid for doing it,” Roney said.
Roney sees a number of parallels in the financial advice credit unions offer members and what credit counseling agencies like InCharge provide for their clients.
“Credit unions are built around the idea of people helping people with financial issues and that’s what I see with our credit counselors at InCharge,” Roney said. “People are excited when they get a loan to buy a car or a home, but then something in life happens, they have a setback, and now they’re looking for a trusted financial adviser. That’s where our credit counselors come in and educate them on the choices and decisions they make.”
She helped develop ways to expand revenue streams at her previous jobs and wants to keep on that path at InCharge.
“I like coming into organizations and helping them find new revenue streams,” she said.
She also puts emphasis on employee development.
“I really love helping people develop their talent,’ Roney said. “Whether someone wants to become a leader in the organization or just get better at what they’re doing, I want employees to feel like they have a chance to develop in our organization.”
Loretta, her husband, and two children are excited about saying goodbye to Missouri winters and hello to Florida’s theme parks and beaches. “I was open to a change and my family is very excited about Orlando,” she said. “This is a pivotal time for my children and a good chance for them to understand there is a lot more out there.”
